Utile Mahogany Body Blanks
Mahogany sipo, (Entandrophragma utile)
Weight s.g. 0.55 (good) Hardness 4 KN Stability; volumetric 11.4 T/R 1.4
It looks very like Honduran mahogany has comparable S.G. and hardness, slightly higher volumetric shrinkage but better T/R ratio. The same species as Sapele, but a variety with less of the ribbon striping which makes it easier to work.
Sourced from the DRC with VLO certification.
A recommended timber.
