Sapele and Utile are two varieties of the same species of tree, both are in the Mahogany family and both work well and have good tonal qualities.
Sapele has more of an interlocking grain giving it the characteristic ribbon appearance when polished, Utile is slightly darker and less red.
Thinner boards will inevitably cup slightly and will need clamping when gluing.
