Knob Thorn (Accacia)
An African Accacia, this timber is very dense, and close grained, it's hardness does make it harder to work but it does seem to cut plane and machine very cleanly without any tear out, it's so close grained it should come to a high finish and be very hard wearing. Not a busy wood but attractive all the same.
The timber is very high in Tannins and may well react well to Ammonia fuming and go almost black, not for the faint hearted but if you try it, let me know how you get on.
Blanks are 70-75mm wide and about 9mm thick
